Featured Boutique: Papillon

I'm so lucky and proud to have my line sell at Papillon, this sweet, unique and hip children's boutique is owned by marketing guru and entertainer, Lisa Newberry.

Lisa is great to work with, she is a hardworking mom, super sweet, has great style and she's been very supportive of my collection season after season.
Papillon is located in Marina del Rey in the Marina Waterside Shopping Center.  They carry unique, organic & eco-friendly clothes and accessories for boys and girls ages newborn to 8 years old; in addition to books, toys, dolls, baby mats, stuffed animals, music, gift items, diaper bags & wraps for mom.

What makes Papillon unique is that they offer items you can't get anywhere else - from all over the world.  Mobiles and hand puppets made in Bangladesh, swimwear from Denmark, dresses, skirts & tops made in India and Bali, dolls, skirts & jackets from Vietnam & Nepal, toys from Germany, hats from Switzerland...and that's just to name a few.

They also do an excellent job at giving back, they continually support children's health & education in Nepal, through the Spiral Foundation; in addition to donating proceeds from special events to children's cancer research with St. Jude.  And most recently, Papillon joint the efforts of raising awareness of the Jenesse Center, the domestic violence & intervention program and Halle Berry's "What a Little Love Can Do Project".

Each month Papillon offers special events, such as book readings & signings, jewelry making parties, trunk shows, holiday bazaars, mom's night out events and more. And you'll always find Lisa's daughter Sasha on hand to keep the kids entertained.

Please stay small

I love taking pictures of my children and I also love having their picture taken by people that know what they are doing. I'm still trying to figure out the camera I got for my birthday or was it Christmas 2009?
Anyways, I was looking at our 2010 Holiday pictures, Heather Telford took our pictures at the Griffith Observatory (one of our favorites places) and then some at our house. I love how they all turned out! She was amazing, so patient and fun, I specially love this picture of my 3 boys:

As I looked at this picture, I thought: please stay small!
Their skin is so soft, they still want to snuggle with me, they think I'm cool (please don't tell them the truth), they say the sweetest prayers and they dance with me until they are tired. I know a lot of these things won't last much longer and it makes my heart hurt a little, OK let me be honest, it actually hurts a lot, it feels like someone is sitting on my chest and my heart is about to stop. Is that crazy or do you know what I mean?
I use to always ask Joey to please stop growing, he would smile and say OK mom, then one day he said:
Joey: I'm sorry Mom
Me: sorry for what Joey?
Joey: I'm really trying to stay small but is not working
If I hadn't been laughing so hard I would have probably cried at how cute that was.

So tonight after looking at the above picture I started looking at older pictures and found these and Oh my goodness! I spent about 2 hours looking at pictures from 2006. Where is time going?! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy each stage of their lives, but seriously look at them, PLEASE STAY SMALL!!

I don't remember why they were crying, but for the record I was not torturing them... I think

Tonight Baby William is not sleeping on his crib, he's staying right here next to me, he's not going to be 9 months much longer.

Boys and Scissors

Nico is my oldest, he has always liked crafts, and cutting paper is one of his favorites.
When he was 2 and I was nursing his younger brother Joey, he went into our guest room and gave my porcelain horse a haircut (the horse being an anniversary present from my husband, custom made with real horse hair), I was so upset I didn't know if I should laugh or cry, I think I did both. A few years later he tried to give his brother a haircut, I stopped that before he was able to do any real damage. He had never attempted anything like it since, it's been a few years and he is generally a very good boy.
But yesterday, after I had to change their clothes twice due to getting wet and then muddy outside, I gave them each a long bath. I was in the middle of cooking dinner, tired and with a long to do list waiting for me to finish, when Nico walked in and asked me how his hair looked, it was wet and he had managed to combed it nicely, I was busy so I said "Great!"
Later on I went to their bathroom and found a trashcan full of hair clippings and scissors on the sink. I immediately asked Joey what he'd done (he's generally the one that starts trouble), but he had no clue where the hair had come from. That's when I realized Nico had done this:

As you can see he is very proud of it.

Now I have to add Barber to my to do list.
